A fire truck — or fire apparatus — is a purpose-built emergency vehicle that carries water, pumping capacity, hose, ladders, and rescue equipment to the scene of a fire or incident. Configurations are specialized by role: pumpers (engines) draw from a tank or hydrant and supply hose lines, aerials and ladder trucks provide elevated access and master stream capability, tankers or tenders shuttle water where hydrants don't exist, and rescue, brush, and ARFF units handle extrication, wildland, and aircraft response. The primary buyers are municipal fire departments and volunteer or rural fire districts, alongside industrial fire brigades at refineries, chemical plants and manufacturing sites, airport ARFF operations, ports, and military and federal installations.
