Log trailers are purpose-built hauling trailers designed to carry cut timber, using upright stakes or bunks rather than solid walls to cradle logs and hold the load together over rough ground. They come in configurations matched to the length of wood being moved — long loggers with extendable or trombone frames for full-length tree-length timber, shortwood trailers and hayracks for pre-cut lengths, and B-train and super B-train combinations that pair two units for maximum payload on legal highway routes. Fleets use them to move logs from the cutblock to roadside landings, then over forest service roads and highways to sawmills, pulp mills, and export terminals. That puts them almost entirely in the forestry and logging sector — harvesting contractors, owner-operators hauling under contract to mills, and the mills and pulp producers running their own fleets — with related use in land clearing and biomass and hog fuel hauling.
