Vacuum Excavator
A vacuum excavator truck digs without a blade, using pressurized water or high-velocity air to break up soil while a powerful vacuum system pulls the loosened material into an onboard debris tank. Because nothing mechanical touches what's underground, it's the standard method for exposing buried utilities — potholing and daylighting to verify line locations before a crew digs — as well as slot trenching, valve box and manhole cleanout, and cleaning up drilling spoils. It's used heavily by gas, electric, telecom, water and sewer utilities, municipalities, underground and directional drilling contractors, pipeline and oil and gas operators, and general construction crews working around live infrastructure.
