Top 4 Finish: Velocity Truck Centres Canada Shines at DTNA 2026 CIC + CXA Summit

2026 CIC + CXA Summit

From February 16 to 19, members of the Velocity Truck Centres Canada Continuous Improvement Team travelled to Louisville, Kentucky for the biennial 2026 CIC + CXA Summit hosted by Daimler Truck North America. The event brings together CIC’s from across the Elite Support network to share best practices, celebrate achievements, and recognize excellence in continuous improvement.

Two Velocity Canada Finalists Advance to Top 16

As part of the summit, each attendee submitted one Continuous Improvement Event from the past two years for consideration in the CI Event of the Year competition. This year, 48 events were submitted across the network.

Velocity Canada was proud to have two team members advance to the Top 16 finalists:

  • James McGhee, Service Manager and CIC, Prince George, BC
  • Nathan George Wade, Technical Training Administrator, Canada and CIC, Surrey, BC

The first phase of judging was conducted anonymously, with all finalist events displayed for attendee review and voting. After the initial round of votes, James’s event advanced to the Top 4.

A Milestone Top 4 Finish

The final four competitors presented their events to more than 400 attendees, delivering a pre-recorded summary video followed by a live presentation.

James represented Velocity with professionalism and confidence, supported by team members from both Canada and the United States. While another event ultimately received the majority vote, the Top 4 finish marks a major achievement. It has been ten years since a Velocity Canada CI Event reached the Top 4, making this accomplishment especially meaningful for the organization.

Celebrating Canadian CIC Achievements

In addition to the competition, several Canadian CICs were recognized for completing Performance Workshops and for their ongoing commitment to continuous improvement.

  • Amy Butler, Parts Technician and CIC from Williams Lake, BC was formally recognized for completing her Front Counter Parts Workshop.
  • Christen Fox, Shipper Receiver and CIC from Lloydminster, AB received recognition for completing her Service Dwell Time Performance Workshop and was also presented with a WOW Award for excellence in implementing the 5S process.
  • Christine Guest, Assistant Service Manager and CIC from Edmonton South, AB was awarded completion plaques for both the Back Counter Parts Workshop and the Service Dwell Time Performance Workshop.
  • Nathan George Wade, Technical Training Administrator and CIC from Surrey, BC received his Service Dwell Time Workshop completion plaque and was recognized for his contributions to “Team Break It,” supporting design and functionality testing of the new Hub application.

Looking Ahead

The theme of this year’s summit focused on “Beyond” criteria, with emphasis on customer communication and customer satisfaction. Following breakout sessions, the Velocity Canada team collaborated to identify key takeaways and develop action plans to continue strengthening performance across our stores.

We congratulate all of our CIC team members on their accomplishments and look forward to building on this momentum as we continue to advance our continuous improvement efforts in 2026.
